is anyone planning anything for next year's venice biennale?
cheers,
steve
This blog is to further discuss an idea that was brought forth at the 2005 Venice Biennale. The idea was the creation of an Aboriginal Pavilion - one for the colonized peoples of North America, New Zealand, and Australia. However that is just the beginning of the idea and it is open for disuccsion. The object is to organise ourselves to the realization of the idea, to see if it is feasible at this time and if not, when? or even if it should ever come to being.

Hi Steve I think Nancy Mithlo is planning something.
Hi all,
I am curating an exhibit featuring the works of Tom Jones and Andrea Carlson titled "Rendezvoused." From a recent grant narrative:
The Indigenous Arts Action Alliance (IA3) will present the exhibit “Rendezvoused” at the La Biennale di Venezia 53rd international arts exhibition in collaboration with the University of Venice’s Department of Postcolonial Literature, June 2009. “Rendezvoused” is curated by University of Wisconsin-Madison Assistant Professor of Art History Nancy Marie Mithlo and features the site-specific works of photographer Tom Jones and painter Andrea Carlson. Mithlo has a record of producing innovative Native arts exhibits in Venice (1999, 2001, 2003 and 2007: www.nancymariemithlo.com) utilizing culturally-informed curatorial practices.
The exhibit “Rendezvoused” concerns the transfer of cultural capital and questions the significance of restoration from varied perspectives.
We are actively seeking funding and welcome your input...
Hi Nancy, thanks for responding I am at home so I couldn't send Steve the info you gave me a while ago. I am hoping to make it to next years Biennale, but for work or on my own is yet to be determined. Good to hear you are going ahead with yet another project!!! You're an inspiration.
